Apple and conflict minerals – UPDATED

An article on the BBC News website today reported that “Apple has begun publicising which of its suppliers may be sourcing minerals from conflict zones.”

Our director Bandi Mbubi was asked to comment…

He told the BBC that Apple’s announcement was to be applauded.

“What we want is the whole industry to start transforming the way they do their business,” he said.

“The way Apple has gone, even though it is not 100%, is something that is quite encouraging.”

Bandi’s fellow TEDxExeter alumnus, Andy Robertson, responded to Apple’s announcement by encouraging Nintendo to follow their example in an article for Nintendo Life: “Congo Calling’s Bandi Mbubi Urges Gamers To Press Nintendo Into Using Conflict-Free Materials In Its Consoles”.
